I have been getting a huge fix of Fox's hit television series 24 over the past few weeks. I am currently watching Season 5 on television while also finishing Season 1 of the show with friends I am trying to get hooked on it.
When watching Season 5 I have to wait week to week for each new episode. But when watching Season 1 (and all later seasons) we usually end up watching an entire disc each night. That is a whopping four hours of twenty-four!
What can I say, the show is pretty addicting.
Well, it looks like this addiction may quickly spread from television to the bigscreen.
A 24 Movie Adaptation
According to MovieHole, we may be able to expect a 24 movie in between the end of Season 5 and the beginning of Season 6.
The plan is to begin production on the film immediately and then have the film hit theatres right after the Season 5 finale. Though this would come as some pretty cool news for the fans, doesn't that also mean they would only have about twenty weeks to complete the film starting meow?
The other issue I have with a 24 film is that it would have to drop the number one thing that makes the television series great-- real-time storytelling.
Kiefer Sutherland seems ready for a film and has mentioned that the movie version won't even contain the same characters from the show. Not even the now infamous Jack Bauer?
"I think there's always a way to actually deal with an idea of 24 as a film that would completely be separate from 24 the television show. And by that I mean the characters could be different. They could be completely unrelated, and I think that that would still be effective."
I don't know, how about we just concentrate on delivering an amazing sixth season without Kimberly Bauer getting herself stuck in annoying situations. Oh yeah, and while you are at it how about adding some mole-proofing to CTU.
