Night Watch Movie Poster
As far as we can tell, it does look like Fox Searchlight is making good on its promise to release the upcoming Russian sensation, Night Watch, on February 17th. Though the release is limited, at least it is something.
To help us further prepare for the release our good friend 'RonJon' alerted us to a Japanese trailer for the film that shows a ton of new scenes and cool cinematography.
Night Watch Trailer
Set in contemporary Moscow, Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce-between the opposing sides. As night falls, the dark forces battle the super-human "Others" of the Night Watch, whose mission is to patrol and protect. But there is constant fear that an ancient prophecy will come true: that a powerful "Other" will rise up, be tempted by one of the sides, and tip the balance plunging the worlds into a renewed war between the dark and light, the results of which would be catastrophic.
Though you will not be able to understand the dialogue and narrator in the trailer (unless you speak Japanese), the trailer is the best yet when it comes to showing cool scenes, cinematography and battles that occur in Night Watch.
Russia is currently enjoying the sequel to Night Watch-- Day Watch. Now that Fox Searchlight looks like it was able to stick to its promise of bringing the first film of the trilogy to the states, let's see if they can get us the sequel by the end of 2006.
