We have recently received a report that is supposedly from a guy who was able to check out the filming for Spider-Man 3 over in Pasadena.
The set report details scenes between Parker, Stacy and 'Eddie Brock'; who later becomes Venom.
Spider-Man 3 in Alexandria Hotel
Below is the set report posted over in the CanMag Blogs:
Okay kiddies, here's the latest scoop. I had set aside some downtime in my day in the mid-afternoon to go to the live set at 1480 Michigan in Pasadena today. So I got there around 3PM and parked my car a block away, then walked around the block to get closer to the live filming. I was still dressed for work in business casual so I looked like I lived in the upscale neighborhood where this was being shot. Anyway, one of the sweet security guards didn't ask me any questions and let me pass by and I got to watch parts of two different scenes being filmed in the front yard of the large colonial styled house with green shutters.
Okay, to set the scene... It looks like there may be a love triangle between Gwen Stacy, Brock, and Peter!! The two actors that were there were Bryce Dallas Howard and Topher Grace. She was wearing some of those new wide legged short pants and black high-heeled boots. Topher's hair was dyed blond and he was wearing black slacks and a black leather jacket. He looks incredible, by the way. Not really muscular, but definitely filled out and broad shouldered. He's no scawny Eric Forman that's for sure! The lines that I actually heard from watching them from across the street were from Bryce and she shouted them angrily; I quote, "I said I didn't want to see you anymore! Why are you trying to control my life!" I couldn't hear Topher's lines because they were spoken much too quietly. But I heard Bryce clearly, since they reshot the scene about three times.
The other quick scenes that I witnessed was Topher opening and closing a car door and he rolled a plastic garbage can up and down the driveway a few times. That was all the filming I witnessed because they all moved into the house to do some indoor filming. However, I did chat with some of the security guards and they did confirm a few things for me. Topher is playing Brock and he is going to be Venom. But he is going to stay a regular guy for most of the film. The other tidbit of information that I found thrilling is that there will be a Spiderman 4!! This movie is going to set the stage for either more Venom mayhem or the coming of Carnage. ISN'T THAT INCREDIBLE!!! So true believers, Spiderman is going to be swinging through the streets of New York City for yet another movie.
We currently have NO confirmation on the validity of this report. However, I do have to admit that there are a few things that bother me.
First, how is it that a set security guard happens to know very secret details for Spider-Man 3? Second, I don't like how the report makes it sound like Brock (if Topher is in fact Brock) goes after Peter for the sole reason of the love triangle between Parker, Brock and Stacy. (*We have been told that there will be a love story in the film. But it has been suggested to be between Parker, Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy).
In the comics, Peter Parker is the first one to handle the alien symbiote that later tries to permanently attach itself to Parker's body. The symbiote made Parker stronger and allowed him to easily shift into different outfits. After removing the material the symbiote material was left to 'die', but was soon picked up by Eddie Brock. Brock was a reporter who had recently been fired by The Daily Globe thanks to Spider-Man discovering the real criminal behind a series of crimes; Brock had been reporting on misinformation.
Once Brock came into contact with the symbiote it connected with him and gave the character powers identical to Spider-Man's. However, Venom is stronger than Spider-Man. Both entities join together to try to kill Spider-Man.
Therefore, Venom's hatred toward is toward Spider-Man; not Parker. However, seeing that Gwen Stacy may be the 2nd, not 1st, love in Parker's life for the films I guess we can already claim that Sam Raimi is definitely not following the comics too closely.
Finally, what is Sam Raimi's obsession with scenes involving taking out the garbage? Both Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 had a scene where Parker encounters Mary Jane while taking out the trash.
Other than that, the report sounds pretty good.
Now let's just wait and see what we hear on Monday.
Spider-Man 3 comes to theatres on May 4th, 2007.
