Wilmer Valderrama is setting himself up for one busy year for 2006, 2007 and possibly 2008. Though most still know the actor best for his character 'Fez' (I always assumed it was 'Fes'-- Foreign Exchange Student) in the hit Fox series That 70s' Show (the same show that discovered Topher Grace), Valderrama is looking to spread his abilities across multiple genres of film.
The actor has already finished Fast Food Nation and is already signed on for both CHiPS and Crenshaw Blvd. Though this would be a sizable load for a young actor, Valderrama has been looking to return to teen comedy more to the stature of That 70s' Show.
Therefore, the actor has recently announced to having signed on with the teen comedy Unaccompanied Minors.
Valderrama for Unaccompanied Minors
According to Variety, Wilmer Valderrama has agreed to star in Paul Feig's teen comedy Unaccompanied Minors for Warner Bros.
Valderrama is the last of a trio of actors to join the cast of Minors with Brett Kelly (Bad Santa) and Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris).
The story for Unaccompanied Minors was created off of a segment from the radio broadcast of Ira Glass' This American Life. The plot revolves around a group of middle-school students from divorced homes who create a makeshift holiday when they end up stranded at the fictional Hoover Intl. Airport.
The original script for Unaccompanied Minors was written by Jacob Meszaros and Mya Stark. After the script was polished over by Kate Kondell, Paul Feig and Warner Bros began to seek out a cast. Kate Kondell has been involved with the screenplays for Legally Blonde 2 and Catwoman; not the best track record I know.
Paul Feig is creator of the teen television series Freaks and Geeks and has directed episodes of The Office and Arrested Development.
Production on Unaccompanied Minors will begin next month in Utah.
