Night Watch Movie Poster
With only a few days to go we are now certain that Night Watch will find itself playing in American cinemas by the weekend. Though I'm still unsure on how many screens the Russian film will find itself on, it is still good to see Fox Searchlight Pictures keep to the promised release.
To help celebrate, Fox has recently released the first four-minutes of the film to the internet.
Night Watch Trailer
Set in contemporary Moscow, Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce-between the opposing sides. As night falls, the dark forces battle the super-human "Others" of the Night Watch, whose mission is to patrol and protect. But there is constant fear that an ancient prophecy will come true: that a powerful "Other" will rise up, be tempted by one of the sides, and tip the balance plunging the worlds into a renewed war between the dark and light, the results of which would be catastrophic.
My only issue with the first four minutes to Night Watch is that it is in English. Was the entire movie dubbed for theatrical release in the states? I certainly hope not; I hate dubbed films.
However, why would they put the intro in English if the rest of the film isn't?
(*looking into it)
After you watch the first four minutes to Night Watch the clip immediately speeds up and becomes more of a trailer. Either way you look at it, or hear it, this film should be freakin' sweet.
Update: I have received two alerts claiming that only the intro to the film is in English. The rest of the film will remain Russain and have English subtitles.
