After watching the first trailer for Happy Feet it became apparent that the film could be a tough sell. Besides a few lines from Robin Williams the film looked more like an animated recital than an actual movie.
It turns out that the film follows the Moulin Rouge principle with its musical numbers based off popular songs and dance routines. The current number one voice plug for the film is having Robin Williams behind the microphone. However, though having Robin Williams voice multiple characters in the film sounds like a great deal, it is not; even for the biggest Williams fans.
Happy Feet Reviews
The good people over at AICN recently received two early reports from a screening that showed off an unfinished version of Happy Feet. Though I hadn't heard anything before, the ending of the film has been under question and it now seems that this 'awkward' ending is still attached to the film.
Though a bad ending can be a nail in the coffin for this film the biggest complaint remains to be Robin Williams. The actor supposedly voices a bunch of different characters; causing you to be sick of him by the end of the film.
So how is it? Well, I saw it with another guy who HATED it. I kinda liked it, and this is my review, so screw him!
And now the not so good. If you dislike Robin Williams, do not see this movie. I really quite like him, but by the end of the film I knew I was sick of him. It seems like every third character is Robin Williams! He is quite tiring.
I HATED THIS FILM. It wasn't a badly made film, I guess, just bad. None of the humor worked for me. Robin Williams, dear God, Robin Williams. He should be hereafter banned from ever making another animated movie! He was everywhere.
Ouch! Definitely not the best start for the upcoming CG animation. However, remember that the film is still far from complete and anything can happen between now and Happy Feet's release.
