With the release of Bambi II to DVD we may have to begin cutting Disney some slack. Before the acquisition of Pixar by Disney we kept giving the picture house grief for having sub-par direct-to-DVD animated sequels. If Disney was to keep to their current trend we were beginning to wonder if we'd ever see a good Pixar-less Disney film again.
However, Disney has recently hit gold by releasing Bambi II straight to DVD.

According to THR, Bambi II was released to DVD with glorious results. Though DVD sales don't necessarily mean that the film is any good, the numbers are enough to put a grin on Walt Disney's mug.
Buena Vista Home Entertainment's direct-to-video sequel Bambi II, sold more than 2.5 million DVDs and videocassettes its first week in stores, the studio reported Tuesday.
My first major question is this-- Who the heck still uses videocassettes? Listen people, HD-DVD and BlueRay are on their way into homes before the summer, meaning videocassettes will become two generations behind the current technology. Listen, Best Buy has DVD players for thirty bucks (easy skrilla), so go buy one.
Upon hitting store shelves, Bambi II had 800,000 copies sold within the first day. This number is double the amount that was sold for Wallace & Gromit, a film that came off of a theatrical release.
"Bambi II continues the legacy that Walt [Disney] began many decades ago and we are thrilled that consumers across the country have become enamored by Bambi II in such a wonderful way," said Bob Chapek, president of Buena Vista Home Entertainment. Chapek said sales surpassed initial projections and more DVDs are being manufactured to meet demand. "Our research indicated that consumers were very excited about this film," he said. "But no amount of research could have ever predicted this type of overwhelming response. As a result, we are working diligently to keep retail stores in stock."
In Bambi III it has been said that Bambi finally hunts out the hunter that killed his mother and then bitch smacks his dad just to get the point across. Ok, ok, I kid; but you never know.
