The Red Star
Tack on yet another graphic novel set to be adapted into a feature length motion picture. In an effort to grab whatever graphic novels still not attached to any studio, Universal Pictures decided to go a bit Russian.
Universal Picks Up The Red Star
According to THR, Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to Christian Gossett's award-winning comic book The Red Star.
The Red Star follows an epic battle in a world of militarized sorcery and monolithic technology, where—unknown to all but a few—the ghosts of old soldiers continue to fight alongside the living.
Like many of the recent graphic novels to be picked up for film, The Red Star also has its fair share of fantasy elements.
Universal Pictures is already looking at Timur Bekmambetov to direct the film. Bekmambetov is responsible for the Russian film Night Watch.
Marc Platt and Timur Bekmambetov will team to produce The Red Star.
Bekmambetov's Night Watch comes to theatres in America this Friday, February 17th.
