The press around the casting updates for Casino Royale has been more than awkward. Beginning production to keep with a deadline release date, director Martin Campbell figured he had a month to go before he would have to begin worrying about casting the next Bond girl or even the next villain.
So, when filming began on Casino Royale it began somewhat light on the cast.
Though we are still curious on who the next Bond girl will be, during a press conference at Prague's Barrandov Studios today Campbell announced that they have at least found their villain.
Bond Villain is Mikkelsen
According to Variety, the evil Le Chiffre will be played by Danish thesp Mads Mikkelsen.
Mads Mikkelsen is known best for his character Tristan in the film King Arthur.
Also during the press conference Daniel Craig stood up to answer questions in good humor for various journalists. Among the questions received by Craig was one asking what he thought about publications thinking that Craig could be, well, weak wristed. After a moment, Craig responded icily, "I didn't know they had but thanks for the information."
Though some of the questions were a bit bizarre, the number one question that still remains is who will play the next Bond girl.
Earlier today we reported that Eva Green and Olivia Wilde had recently appeared at the top of a shortened list and now it looks like these two ladies may be the final contenders for the role.
When asked about the next Bond girl Campbell said the list had been limited to "two to three" and that we'd have to wait a bit longer to find out.
Dench, who plays the part of M in the revamped superspy franchise, has only just begun to work alongside Craig in Casino Royale and says their relationship is working out just fine.
Casino Royale will come to theatres November 17th.
