When we first heard that Will Ferrell and company were teaming up with Sascha 'Ali G' Cohen for Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, we couldn't help but be interested. Both actors have an entirely different idea of funny. Sascha Cohen is known for having witty lines and comebacks while Will Ferrell follows a style closer to Anchorman; Ferrell is louder and more outgoing.
What persona was Sascha planning to play for Talladega Nights? He has become famous on the HBO series Da Ali G Show with his characters Ali G, Borat and Bruno. Borat is the hilarious anchorman from Kazakhstan who has a hard time understanding local customes. Bruno is the gay anchor from Austrian Gay Television. However, would any of these characters fit into a film about Nascar?
Apparently not, as Sascha will play a French driver who represents competition to Ferrell.

Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer for Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and it looks pretty funny.
The film tells the story of NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) whose "win at all costs" approach has made him a national hero. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo -- dubbed "Thunder" and "Lightning" by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When a flamboyant French Formula One driver, Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen), challenges the "Thunder" and "Lightning" for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver.

There are quite a few moments in the trailer that had me cracking up at Ferrell's antics. Take for instance the scene where Ferrell says grace or the one where he thinks he is on fire.
The only thing I missed is that there weren't enough moments featuring Sascha Cohen.
