After receiving that awesome script review for the upcoming adaptation of the best-selling XBox game Halo, the updates on the current developments of the film have gone dry.
The recent discussions were on whether or not Guillermo del Toro, who is currently working on Pan's Labyrinth, was going to put the sequel for Hellboy on hold, or drop the project altogether, in order to direct Halo. After multiple reports, we still do not have a final answer from del Toro or Jackson.
However, that doesn't mean that Jackson doesn't have his head on the film.
Halo Meets Jackson
We were recently alerted that Bungie has posted an update claiming that Peter Jackson has recently dropped by the Bungie office to check out Halo and the makers of the popular video game.
This is one of those stories that’s kind of apropos of nothing, but a week or two ago, our new building was graced by the presence of one Mr. Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, Heavenly Creatures, Meet the Feebles and more. In short, a genius. You may or not know that he is also signed up as executive producer on the forthcoming Halo movie.
Mr. Jackson was not only nice enough to come visit, but also to pose for a photo with the entire Bungie crew. And here it is. Click the image for a bigger version with carefully chosen annotation. And note that in the big version, that mysterious light really did appear on the original shot.
So to summarize, a famous director came to a building and got mobbed by rabid fanboys, many of whom are in their twenties and thirties.
It was first expected that Jackson would slide into the director's chair after announcing that he would produce the film but no further hints of that have come forward.
Halo will come to theatres some time near summer in 2007.
