Eva Green in Kingdom of Heaven
It looks like the battle between actresses Eva Green and Olivia Wilde on who is going to be the next Bond girl has finally been decided.
After just under three weeks of production on the set of Casino Royale, Sony Pictures announced today that Eva Green's name has been pulled out of the hat to play Bond's latest love interest-- Vesper Lynd.
Eva Green Hot for Bond
According to Variety, Eva Green has landed the role of Bond's love interest Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale.
This announcement comes only one day after director Martin Campbell announced that actor Mads Mikkelsen will play the villain Le Chiffre.
In a statement, Columbia Pictures Amy Pascal suggested that the new Bond girl will be more than just arm candy.
"When you think about the great James Bond adventures, of course you think about action and espionage, but you need to have palpable sexual tension in the movie, and in casting Vesper, we really needed to up the ante, because this character is very much an equal to Bond and central to our story."
Eva Green recently appeared in the film Kingdom of Heaven next to Orlando Bloom and made her film debut in Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers. It was probably her 'unvieled' role in The Dreamers that made Martin Campbell's and Sony's choice easy (wink).
Jeffrey Wright has joined the cast of Casino Royale as Felix Leiter.
Casino Royale will come to theatres November 17th.
