At the rate Sony Screen Gems is going we may now be able to forgive them for the previous lack of marketing for Ultraviolet. With an updated website and two new movie clips all within the same week, all I can say is 'bravo.'
But then they had to go and push the film back a week into March; 'booo'.
Ultraviolet Movie Clip
Our good buddy 'RonJon' recently alerted us to a new movie clip to appear online for the upcoming film Ultraviolet. Like the last clip, this latest version features Violet (Milla Jovovich) as she kicks some 'health' human ass.
The fight sequence in the clip looks good but there is one single problem. Unlike the last clip that featured the sword duels, this clip is highly edited. It is not that impressive for an actress to fight tough when the scene is made up of one-hundred-plus individual shots. Some may not even notice it, but some will. Just pay attention to how sporadic the camera moves around while fighting.
I am hoping that the other fight sequences are not like this.
The only other thing to bother me in this latest clip is the music. Since I am geeked on movie music I fear that the music for Ultraviolet sounds a little too 'temp.' What happened to the great music created by Klaus Badelt for Equilibrium? That music would sound perfect in this film as well.
Ultraviolet is the second stylized film from director Kurt Wimmer that uses the fighting style gunkata. The story is set in the late 21st century, where a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence, and as they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war (a war between humans and hemophages) aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population.
