With Mission: Impossible III being one of Paramount's top hitters for 2006 the company has strengthened its ties with Viacom in order to ensure box office gold.
Paramount and Viacom on M:I3
According to THR, Viacom has decided to marshal its far-reaching forces to ensure the box office success of their largest tentpole film, Mission: Impossible 3.
Not that they should have to worry considering M:I:3 is a sequel to two other smash hits and JJ Abrams is at the helm. JJ Abrams popularity recently soared among television audiences by having his name attached to the ABC series LOST.
Even though the future of M:I:3 looks solid, Viacom recently held a summit to put Paramount in contact with sister ties in order to help promote the film.
According to Paramount president Gail Berman, "It was fantastic. It came from Gerry Rich and Rob Moore and their brilliant idea of bringing the various Viacom divisions together and have them take an early look at the earliest teaser and meet Tom and J.J. and hear their vision of the movie."
"As an idea and in a cooperative spirit, it was as great as any company could do. If you saw it, you would be impressed by the amount of energy that was in that room."
Though we should expect more crossover marketing for Mission: Impossible III, the exact details on how Paramount plans to further promote the film through its Viacom ties is still unknown.
How about we just put Ethan Hunt on a mysterious island? Sorry, wrong tie.
Mission: Impossible 3 comes to theatres on May 5th, 2006.
