Since we have already promised our readers that we would remain just as 'geeked' on Eragon as we would Harry Potter we are stoked to announce that a ton of set pictures have popped up online for the film.
Eragon Character Banner
Our one major hope for Eragon is that 20th Century Fox is willing to put the time and money necessary to do this adaptation justice. What will be one of the biggest issues that Fox will hit? How about creating a believable dragon who is part of the story for the entire film?
Eragon tells the story of a boy who finds a blue polished stone while out hunting game. Unknown to the boy and all the villagers he introduces his new treasure to, the stone is actually one of the last remaining dragon eggs. If the baby dragon inside finds its carrier to be worthy, the dragon will hatch and create the next Rider. Unfortunately for Eragon, he was deemed worthy and is forced to take on a fantastical adventure that will become legend.
The number one site for Eragon --
Shur'tugal -- has recently posted a boatload of new set images from the filming of Eragon. After seeing the character banner for the film I had to raise a couple of doubts. However, the set pics actually look pretty good.
Troops of the Empire?
A group of Urgals
The image above is a bunch of Urgals. "They resembled men with bowed legs and thick, brutish arms made for crushing. A pair of twisted horns grew above their small ears." The only issue I currently have with the image is the lack of horns (added later?) makes the creatures look too close to human.
Urgals are one of the many new races established in Eragon. Urgals are also known to grow as big as giants and run as fast as horses. When an Urgal does get this big they become known as Kull. One nice thing about The Inheritance Trilogy is that all races, even the evil ones, are very multi-dimensional. The Urgals surprise us in the second book of the series, Eldest.

(raise my glass) May this film kick all our asses.
