Since family films have proven that even they can dominate in a competitive box office, many studios have shifted gears slightly in order to make room for a few more of that genre.
For what the studios would consider 'cheap,' New Line Cinema has recently purchased the film rights to All Boxed Up.
New Line All Boxed Up
According to Variety, All Boxed Up was pitched by Ross Venokur and purchased by New Line Cinema for mid-six figures.
Venokur has authored children's books, worked on The Tick and is a writer on Fox's Night at the Museum. He is also penning Space Chimps for Vanguard and Thumb for Henson Co.
New Line has set up J.C. Spink and Chris Bender-- Benderspink --to produce the film.
Benderspink has had previous experience with the comedy genre with films such as Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds.
All Boxed Up tells the story of a retired couple deciding to sell their house and then inviting their quirky grown children and families for a weekend of packing up, leading to relationships unraveling and culminating in bringing everyone closer together.
