Running Scared
We have been keeping updated on Running Scared ever since the trailer and 'opening six minutes' impressed the shit out of us. Expecting another Fast and the Furious, we were shocked to see Paul Walker in a film that looked more about real crime that teeny-bopper crime.
Add in the fact that this film as hell and Running Scared could be the perfect guy movie over the weekend.
However, what do the critics think?
Running Scared Reviews
So far, Running Scared has been getting some pretty mixed reviews which are closer to negative than they are positive. However, we expected as much for a film that looks like this.
Below are two reviews, one positive and one negative, for Running Scared.
Roger Ebert- Chicago Sun Times
Speaking of movies that go over the top, "Running Scared" goes so far over the top, it circumnavigates the top and doubles back on itself; it's the Mobius Strip of over-the-topness. I am in awe. It throws in everything but the kitchen sink. Then it throws in the kitchen sink, too, and the combo washer-dryer in the laundry room, while the hero and his wife are having sex on top of it.
The movie stars Paul Walker. You won't catch him acting in "Running Scared." The movie never slows down enough. He simply behaves, at an alarming velocity.
Hollywood Reporter
To be more accurate, there also are hints of Doug Liman and Tony Scott to be found in this hopped-up, bullet-riddled crime thriller, but while certain sequences pack an admitted visceral kick, the prevailing effect is one of utter overkill.
By the time this Malice in Wonderland reaches an inevitable crescendo, it's enough to make one want to hurry home and soak in a vat of Purell.
Just in case you didn't catch it, the review from Hollywood Reporter is the negative one. However, after reading the whole article, it seems as if the small positive comments may be enough to overthrow the flaws to the film.
