Nicole Kidman in Bewitched
“A sweeping romance” may not be a new foray for actress Nicole Kidman, but director Baz Luhrmann promises his new film costarring Kidman and Russell Crowe will be up to par with the legendary “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Gone with the Wind.” Presumptuous? Yes. But with stars like Kidman and Crowe, we better believe it.

The film, still untitled, starts in the 1930s in the outback and ends sometime a decade later with the Japanese bombings that occurred in Darwin. Set, shot, and made for Australia, Luhrmann says the Aussie trio “been wanting to do a large Australian piece for a very long time… We're in a unique moment where we can make an Australian film on a scale that's never been made about Australia with Australian actors in all the primary and lead roles.”
Kidman and Luhrmann also teemed for the 1999 musical “Moulin Rouge” which garnered eight Oscar nominations, including one for Kidman as Best Actress. Since then, the two have also shot a Chanel perfume commercial. Kidman and Crowe were once tapped to costar in the film “Eucalyptus” last year but plans fell through supposedly due to script and production problems.
Shooting reportedly will be underway starting in August on and will be filmed throughout the Australian countryside.
