Vince Vaughn has been back in his element ever since his small role in Mr and Mrs Smith and his starring role in the laugh-out-loud comedy Wedding Crashers. With what looks to be a renewed comedic spirit, Vaughn is ready to re-team with one of the directors who got him there.
Vaughn is Fred Claus
According to Variety, Vince Vaughn and director David Dobkin plan to team for the upcoming comedy Fred Claus.
Vaughn and Dobkin previously worked together on Wedding Crashers.
While negotiations are just beginning, deal should see Vaughn cement his status as a comedy-carrying star by reaching the $20 million salary mark for the first time. Dan Fogelman wrote the script and Dobkin is producing with Jessie Nelson.
The film revolves around Santa's black-sheep brother, Fred Claus, who heads back to the North Pole and gets a chance to redeem himself. As many have already mentioned, the film sounds a bit like Elf (starring Will Ferrell) but in reverse.
Vaughn and Dobkin hoped to reteam after the completion of Wedding Crashers. Though no project was ready, the two were ready to work together once again. After Dobkin removed himself from Universal's Adam Sandler-Kevin James comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, he immediately sought out Vaughn for Fred Claus.
Though no papers have been signed yet, Fred Claus is expected to be David Dobkin's next film.
