Cusack in Runaway Jury
After mixing romance with dogs in the most non-bestiality sort of way and having a job go south, it looks like John Cusack is ready to try his hand at the thriller/horror genre once again.
Cusack for 1408
In the words of Mugatu-- Stephen King is so hot right now. King's latest novel, Cell, was picked up for adaptation by Dimension Films yesterday (here) and he has now found his male lead in another one of his short story adaptations, 1408.
According to Variety,
John Cusack will star in the bigscreen adaptation of Stephen King's short story 1408 for helmer Mikael Hafstrom.
Dimension Films, who are now in bed with Stephen King and his Cell, have chosen Lorenzo Di Bonaventura to produce the film.
Adapted by scribes Scott Alexande and Larry Karaszewski, 1408 centers on a debunker of paranormal occurrences who encounters real terror when he checks into notorious Room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel.
Hafstrom, who recently directed The Weinstein Co's Derailed, had this to say about 1408:
This film is so much a one-man show. It's quite a contained drama. It is a horror film if you want to put a label on it, but the way I see it, it's much more an inner-journey of this character.
Though no location has been decided on, production is scheduled to begin this summer.
1408 was originally titled Blood and Smoke; but using Blood in a title has been getting old.
