Warner Bros, who we have always appreciated with their ability to over-market a film online, has gone beyond the call of duty and released three, yes, three, teaser trailers for Happy Feet online. Though the trailers don't feature any story or dialogue, they are entertaining just the same.
Happy Feet Trailers
Happy Feet has an interesting angle to it. Judging by the latest teaser trailers, Warner Bros plans to impress us more with the dance numbers and music than the actual story. The film is expected to include mixes of popular songs including ginormous dance numbers performed by none other than penguins.
The major early complaints coming out of the film is that Robin Williams voice floods the production and grows to the point of being annoying. Even with only a couple brief lines in the trailers you can understand where the complaints are coming from.
On the other hand, when it comes down to the quality of CG animation, Happy Feet is a triumph. The opening sequence that takes us over the snowy hills looks so real that I can imagine future productions using this same technology in live-action films. I can't imagine what a bitch it must have been dealing with snow in every shot, but the trailer featuring Williams character singing Sinatra's "My Way" shows just how well the characters interact with the snow; notice the small impressions and disturbances left by the character.
The little guy shows off a tap routine
Happy Feet is a comedy adventure set in the land of the Emperor Penguins in the heart of Antarctica. These penguins sing, each needing their own special song to attract a soul mate. Unfortunately, our hero Mumble (Elijah Wood), son of Memphis (Hugh Jackman) and Norma Jean (Nicole Kidman), is the worst singer in the world... but he can tap dance something fierce!
With so many trailers we have to ask-- Why not an official poster or two?
