Hellboy Poster
We figured the next update we'd have on the development of Hellboy 2 would be whether or not Guillermo del Toro would stick with directing the project, push the project back, or abandon the project entirely in order to direct the video game adaptation Halo (with Peter Jackson to produce).
What we didn't expect was the first working title for the film.
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
While talking with Sci Fi Wire about the current developments of Hellboy 2, Ron Perlman told the magazine that the film already had a working title, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, for a story hatched by comicbook creator Mike Mignola.
Ron Perlman told SCI FI Wire that the Hellboy sequel has a working title, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, and he's hopeful it will go into production later this year. The actor starred in the 2004 original, playing the title red demon who fights for good.
"I think that that's an invention based on a number of different things that have appeared in other comic books," Perlman said of the title in an interview while promoting the upcoming television miniseries Stephen King's Desperation.""But basically the idea for [Hellboy 2] was something that was hatched by [Hellboy comic-book creator] Mike Mignola, with [Hellboy writer-director] Guillermo [del Toro] sitting alongside of him. And then Guillermo, of course, did all of the writing. But, you know, the story was Mignola."
Developments for the sequel to Hellboy are definitely underway and, if Guillermo del Toro does decide to sit this one out, the production will most likely go with a new director.
