With all of the anticipation around the release of the feature trailer for Mission: Impossible III it was easy to forget that we should expect a few other big trailers coming our way just in time for the release of V for Vendetta this weekend. Some films that were overlooked include Poseidon, Snakes on a Plane and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Movie Trailers
The teaser trailer for Snakes on a Plane came out a couple days back and, though I have now had a chance to watch the trailer a few times, I still don't know what to think of it. The first few times I watched the trailer I found myself laughing out loud at the concept and the overall look to the film. However, I am now wondering whether some of the overly CG snakes were for amusement or a characteristic about the film that can only be explained as sad.
Though the trailer is likely to miss for a lot of us, the film should still have a decent pull by the time it hits theatres in late summer. The film could even create a very profitable 'stupid' genre.

The trailer for The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift only confirmed my fear that the franchise is hoping moviegoers are more interested in a film with cool action sequences and collisions than a good story. The main character, played by the kid from Friday Night Lights (Lucas Black), is an 'outsider' who races cars to feel like he is part of the in-group... or something like that. Along the way we encounter cars that drift, guns in hand, and head-on collisions. Cool! Well, not really.

The best new trailer to pop up this week was for Warner Bros upcoming tentpole remake Poseidon. After giving us a teaser trailer and a Super Bowl spot that looked pretty good, Warner Bros has released a feature trailer that shows why exactly the film cost so much freakin' money. The trailer looks great and, though I still have my doubts, might give the film a chance of recovering its extended budget. To be completely honest, this new trailer alone has changed my opinion of Poseidon from 'could be worth seeing' to 'should be good.'
