Now that footage from Superman Returns was previewed and raved upon over at ShoWest it was only a matter of time before the cast and crew began to speak up. Though we had expected Bryan Singer to be first in line to discuss the response at ShoWest it is Superman himself, Brandon Routh, who has popped in for an interview.
Brandon Routh Talks Superman Returns
The good people over at LatinoReview were able to sit down with Brandon Routh, the same guy they scooped as Superman so many months back, and talk about the current status of Superman Returns. During the interview Routh talks about what it is to be Superman, the fame that comes with the role, Spacey's Lex Luthor, opportunity for sequels and the now infamous plane sequence that was previewed at ShoWest.
Kel: The film runs around 2:30 – 2:45 hours long are you concerned at all about the length of the movie?
Routh: I don’t think so. It moves pretty quickly. I saw a very early version of it and its changing all the time, but I was excited and I knew what was happening in the movie and I was so excited to see it but I don’t think there is a problem (with the time), in fact I think its important to have as much as you can in the film as long as it keeps moving quickly because that’s what people want, they want to see all that as much as they can.
Kel: The plane scene that we saw today at the presentation looked amazing, where you rip off the wing and you go chasing the plane…
Routh: That’s great, that’s exciting. That whole scene is long.
Kel: Around 25mins long
Routh: Yeah (Laughs)
Brandon Routh is definitely one lucky SOB. Going from an unknown actor to a contract with multiple Superman films has to be somewhere up to the level of winning the lottery; it will probably pay as much too.
