The Stars My Destination The Stars My Destination
There was a time when we used to enjoy pointing out all the books that are being purchased by the picture houses for adaptation. However, now that it seems every new movie will be based on some book or other type of print, we have begun to find ourselves more surprised about films with original scripts.

The recent purchase, The Stars My Destination, by Universal is no different.

Universal Gets The Stars My Destination

According to Variety, Universal Pictures has acquired the screen rights to The Stars My Destination, a 1955 Alfred Bester novel that's considered a seminal sci-fi work.

The story covers the character Protag, who is the sole survivor of a wrecked spaceship that drifts through deep space. When a passing vessel ignores his distress signal, he becomes obsessed with revenge and ultimately uncovers a secret destined to change the course of history.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce the film. Bonaventura has had previous experience with Universal on Doom and is also working with Scott Rudin on Stoneheart, the Charlie Fletcher fantasy novel.

Stay tuned for updates.
