Back when we first heard the plot for the upcoming thriller Snakes on the Plane we figured that the story could be a hard one to pull off. However, with Samuel L. Jackson as part of the cast and New Line Cinema backing the film, we figured the film had a chance. What we didn't know is that New Line Cinema is working so hard to make the film corny that it could go full circle and become cool again. Possible? Eh, maybe.

Samuel L. Jackson stars in the intense action feature Snakes on a Plane from director David Ellis (Final Destination 2, Cellular). Jackson plays an FBI agent who is escorting a witness on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles when an assassin releases hundreds of deadly snakes on a commercial airplane in order to eliminate the witness. The FBI agent, along with a rookie pilot, frightened crew and passengers must then band together in a desperate attempt to survive.
When I first read the synopsis above I figured the hardest issue would be to avoid having moviegoers recognize computer-generated snakes. The first trailer previewed for Snakes on a Plane not only shows that the snakes do in fact look CG but nobody seems to care; we are talking about Snakes on a Plane!
The logo image for Snakes on the Plane (above) was released over at Entertainment Weekly. Their report shows off a larger version of the logo plus a few quotes from the New Line marketing crew.
SLOGAN'S HEROES
''We have so many taglines that go from sublime to ridiculous,'' says New Line's marketing head Russell Schwartz. ''You could obviously put [on the poster]: 'If the food doesn't kill you, they will.'''
Snakes on a Plane comes to theatres on August 18th.
