After Kiefer Sutherland mentioned a possible 24 movie back in January we have now received a confirmation from the creator of the show
Joel Surnow.
Not only does he say that there will be a film starring Kiefer Sutherland based on the hit television series 24, but he also explained how we can turn 24 hours of real-time action into a two hour flick.
A 24 Movie for 2008
According to Virginia Virtucon, Fox plans to get rolling on a 24 movie set for a 2008 release. However, before we get to the details-- how great has Season 5 of 24 been by the way!?
According to show creator, Joel Surnow, Fox plans to begin filming 24 in the summer of 2007 in anticipation of a summer 2008 release. But how do we fit twenty-four into two?
The big news out of the interview is there will be a "24" movie filmed in the summer of '07 with a release in '08. The movie will still take place over a 24 hour period, but will consist of three 40-minute real-time parts allowing for Jack Bauer to travel greater distances during the course of the story and bring him to more varied locations.
Sounds like a great way to keep the unique feature of the show without making a 24-hour long movie.
When we first heard of a possible 24 movie we figured the idea would have been impossible considering the number one aspect to the show is the real-time action. Unless they were to call the movie '2', we didn't know how they would pull it off. Having Jack Bauer visit distant locations sounds like a great solution to this dilemma.
