David Spade to don the mullet again.
Sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend. I have just returned from a bachelor party in Vegas and must admit that it is going to be hard to get back into the rhythm; a couple naps today should help though.
Anywho, I was recently alerted by Clint over at MovieHole that David Spade has found his next film that he plans to get working on shortly.
Joe Dirt 2 Coming
David Spade still continues to impress me with his ability to pick up hot women. Unfortunately for him-- and sometimes us -- David Spade's ability to pick up good movies is definitely not up to this same level.
In an interview with Moviehole, David Spade says he's about to start work on a sequel to his 2001 comedy "The Adventures of Joe Dirt". Though a flop at cinemas, the film has been a huge success on video and DVD.
Set to film this summer, “Joe Dirt 2” will again be produced by deep-pocketed Adam Sandler.
“We wrote it. We wrote it because Sandler thinks it’s funny. You hear these things, like I go on the road and I hear more about that than anything. That’s how you get feedback. There are some movies that just- - not everyone’s asking about Lost and Found. So when I go out, you hear about the certain movies a lot and then you get weird facts like it sold the most DVDs at Sony a year ago from all their movies at Wal-Mart. So you go, ‘Does that matter?’ Yeah. So then I asked the DVD guy, ‘What does that mean?’ And he goes, ‘Well, it came out and sold a lot the first month and then it never dropped. It just sells the same for the year.’ So that makes everyone think and go, ‘Well, someone…’ but maybe they just don’t believe it the first time so you’ve got to get them into theaters. That’s the tough part because they seem to do well on video which is a big market but you want them to do well in the theater because that’s all people kind of know.”
Apparently the sequel sees mullet-haired trailer-parker Joe Dirt (Spade) going back in time…. to make sure that every ferret-haired rocker, and so on, makes it to the modern-day untarnished.
Despite hankering from the fans – yeah you, and that other guy – a sequel to “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star” isn’t on the cards.
“There’s only so many sequels I can do in the summer”, he offers, in that trademark deadpan style.
