With Scary Movie 4 coming out just in time for Good Friday -- great timing by the way -- the early reviews have begun to surface.

Now, considering that the film is just one giant parody, we did not expect even half of the early rviews to be positive. However, the fourth installment is fairing pretty well so far.

Scary Movie 4 Reviews

We have been receiving a lot of positive buzz for Scary Movie 4 and are curious on how to take it. Calling a film great for its genre is not necessarily a compliment. However, I do enjoy a good parody so will gamble to call the first set of reviews positive.

Horror
Scary Movie 4, with all the core regulars back in action, makes fun of War of the Worlds, The Grudge, The Village, Saw and Saw II, Million Dollar Baby, and Brokeback Mountain. With a better through-line connecting all the stories than its predecessor, Scary Movie 4 is a refreshing (albeit rank) addition to the series.

I was impressed not only by the logical knitting of the storylines (only Brokeback Mountain is forced to fit, but it's okay as a flashback), but by the attention to detail. The sets and set design, especially for The Grudge and Saw, are flawless and even the costumes are perfectly fitted to the characters for each skit.

Hollywood Reporter
The movie then takes a happy dive into jokes involving body fluids, bowel problems, pesky ghosts, annoying space aliens, Carmen Electra, strange villages, Michael Jackson, kinky bondage devices, Leslie Nielsen as a befuddled U.S. president more interested in a children's storybook than the invasion of the U.S. and more Carmen Electra -- well, when you've got it, you flaunt it. The whole thing winds up on Oprah's bouncy couch.

The humor emphasizes quantity over quality, but the batting average isn't too bad. And where else can you witness Leslie Nielsen do a nude scene?

Tight woven parodies? I never thought I'd hear these three words in the same sentence.
