Clint over at MovieHole recently alerted us that film newcomer Cassandra Magrath (Wolf Creek) has landed herself a new starring role.
Magrath for When She Gets There
According to MovieHole, Wolf Creek star Cassandra Magrath has snagged a lead role in the film When she gets There, from director Richard Gray.
The film, from “Project Greenlight” runner-up Gray, tells a young woman, Heidi, who embarks on an adventurous journey of self-discovery after the death of her estranged father. While precariously hitchhiking to her father’s hometown, Heidi meets 40-year old Michael, an orange grove owner with a humility not easily faked. When Heidi’s family reunion doesn’t go according to plan, she decides to join Michael back to his grove, where the new season of orange picking is about to begin. There she finds new friends in the travelling fruit pickers — an unlikely bunch of free-spirited characters. Her friendship with Michael develops and the stakes rise considerably as Heidi soon realises she is not the only one dealing with great loss.
Rumour is Vince Colosimo (Lantana) might be set to join Magrath in the project.
Writer/director Gray has another link to Greggy McLean’s uber-hit Wolf Creek – he recently directed John Jarratt in a new cinema trailer for the AFI.
Roadshow, who also distributed Creek, and Arclight films will distribute the film, which starts shooting at the end of July in Mildura.
