Farrelly Brothers with Shallow Hal
The Farrelly Brothers have recently jumped on the remake train with Dreamworks as the head engine. After hopping on projects such as Fever Pitch, The Heartbreak Kid and The Three Stooges, Farrelly is ready to be stamped and packaged with The Valet.
Farrelly to Direct The Valet
According to Variety, DreamWorks has picked up Peter and Bobby Farrelly to direct the remake of the French comedy The Valet.
The Farrelly Brothers, who have recently turned their attention to exec-producing rather than directing, are known for gross-out comedies including Dumb & Dumber, There's Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene and Stuck on You. Though the duo had turned to producing with films such as The Ringer, they are now ready to step back behind the camera.
The Valet is based on Veber's "La Doublure," which has grossed more than $17 million since its release in France three weeks ago. Pic follows a hapless valet who is captured in a photo of a fight between a Donald Trump-type mogul and his mistress, leading to all sorts of comedic entanglements.
Francis Veber has had other great comedies adapted into Hollywood including The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, Gene Hackman and Nathan Lane.
Allan Loeb will write the script and exec produce the remake of The Valet for DreamWorks. Besides sitting in the director's chair, The Farrellys will also produce with Conundrum partner Bradley Thomas.
