Steven Soderbergh has found the next name to add to his all-star cast for the upcoming Ocean's installment. Moving up to an older actor, Pacino has found his way into the comedy; but can he handle this genre?
Al Pacino for Ocean's Thirteen
If my memory serves me well I do remember that the comedic genre has never been Al Pacino's selling point. On the other hand, I almost break out into hysterics every time I see Tony Montana dropping his head into a mountain of blow. Actually, I find myself laughing in just about every scene in Scarface; but I don't remember the film as a comedy.
According to Variety, Steven Soderbergh has indeed picked up Al Pacino to be one of the new characters for Ocean's Thirteen.
Not that he necessarily needs another big name to join the cast that already includes
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac and new leading lady, Ellen Barkin.
The cast for Ocean's Thirteen is expected to be rounded out before the summer kicks off with filming set to begin in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas in July.
The script for Ocean's Thirteen was written by Rounders scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien.
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps, but Warners revealed that Pacino will be playing Willie Banks, the owner of a high-profile casino and hotel in Las Vegas.
