I am not going to lie -- when Sarah Jessica Parker made the official jump from Sex and the City to film I was not all that excited. I don't know if it was her funky style or long face, but Parker had a lot of work to do in order to prove she could carry an audience outside of the City. To my surprise, the actress has earned the support of audiences everywhere with films such as The Family Stone and the comedy Failure to Launch.
And now that she has gotten the stamp of approval it was only a matter of time before people began to ask what's next.
Sarah Jessica Parker for Vacancy
In what I'd call a risky move on her part -- moviegoers have grown comfortable with her in the romance-comedy films -- Sarah Jessica Parker has signed on to do a thriller.
According to Variety, Parker will star in the suspense thriller Vacancy for Sony Screen Gems.
The script, written by Mark L. Smith, is about a couple who check into a motel and, unaware there's a hidden camera, become the subjects of a snuff film. Parker will play the wife, who is still reeling from the death of her infant son.
Parker's upcoming slate of films includes ThinkFilm's Strangers With Candy -- starring Matthew Broderick and Philip Seymour Hoffman -- Spinning Into Butter and Slammer.
