Tom Cruise
We have gotten used to the idea of adapting novels, biographies, comicbooks and even poetry, but Paramount and Tom Cruise are going to go one step farther and adapt a magazine article to the bigscreen.
To top it off, this article is current.
Cruise does The Fall of the Warrior King
According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has teamed up with Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner to adapt the New York Times Magazine article by foreign correspondent Dexter Filkins titled "The Fall of the Warrior King."
The story takes place during the war in Iraq and centers on Lt. Col. Nathan Sassaman, an Army commander in Baghdad who resigned following a scandal in which men under his command caused the drowning of an Iraqi civilian.
Though Tom Cruise will be involved with the film, it is still unclear on whether or not Warrior King will become a starring vehicle for him. Cruise is, on the other hand, the appropriate age for the role and can match in for Sassaman.
The script for The Fall of the Warrior King is currently being written by Stephen Belber.
Warrior King is now one of a half-dozen feature films that are being setup to revolve around the Iraq War. Others include Last Man Home (directed by Ron Howard), Home of the Brave, Against All Enemies, The Invisible World (directed by Ridley Scott), Stop-Loss and Grace is Gone.
