Making his debut to Hollywood thanks to a not-so-little director that goes by the name of Kevin Smith, Jason Lee has earned himself a sect of fandom that is unmatched by other high-profile stars.
The actor has made appearances in everything from Mallrats to Vanilla Sky and has added more than a few great films under his belt along the way.
Lee, who recently returned to lending his voice for the upcoming animated film Monster House after a hiatus from The Incredibles, can be seen in the upcoming 2006 releases Southland Tales and Clerks 2.
But what is next for Jason Lee after 2006 closes out?
Cruise does The Fall of the Warrior King
Besides dancing around the hit comedy series My Name is Earl, THR reports that Jason Lee has been picked up to voice Underdog -- a character that will be brought back to life by Disney and Spyglass Entertainment. The two picture houses have teamed up to create a live-action adaptation of the classic 1960s cartoon.
Underdog followed the adventures of a humble dog named Shoeshine Boy who became the superheroic Underdog, who spoke in rhyme. In the movie, he is adopted by a 12-year-old boy and uses his superpower to protect his love, Polly Purebred, and the citizens of Capitol City from the evil Simon Barsinister. Peter Dinklage has been cast as Barsinister.
Frederik Du Chau (Racing Stripes) has been picked up to direct Underdog.
Besides Underdog, Jason Lee will be using his time off from My Name is Earl to direct a short film that he wrote. The silent love story, which he will shoot this month, stars Giovanni Ribisi and Beth Riesgraf and will be produced by Lee, Riesgraf and Scott Martin for Lee's production company, Niva Films.
