A Scanner Darkly
After telling us to wait a bit longer on more than a few occasions, Warner Independent Pictures is beginning to reward us for our patience. Patience for what you ask? It seems like it has been years since we first reported on the upcoming Richard Linklater animated adaptation, A Scanner Darkly, and the film's release is now finally approaching.
Sure, we still got a couple months -- but at least we have a cool official site to keep us busy.
Scanner Darkly Site Live
A Scanner Darkly is set in suburban Orange County, California in a future where America has lost the war on drugs. When one reluctant undercover cop is ordered to start spying on his friends, he is launched on a paranoid journey into the absurd, where identities and loyalties are impossible to decode. It is a cautionary tale of drug use based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and his own experiences.
The official site for A Scanner Darkly is so full of flash that I am wondering how many computers are actually going to be able to view the thing. If you can view the site, it is hard not to like its style. Every menu option, display and video feed is themed off of the book and is a perfect fit to the upcoming film.
There is so much activity on the site that even we can't help feel a bit paranoid.
The official site features your standard mix of features including downloads, wallpapers, buddy icons, movie stills, production details and just about everything else you can think of. The best utility I was able to find while roaming the site is the character profile utility. What are these characters up to anyway?
But don't take my word for it, check out the official site for A Scanner Darkly now.
