Matador director Richard Shepard is preparing to direct Spring Break in Bosnia, a film that has found new strength under The Weinstein Company.
Gere and Howard for Spring Break in Bosnia
According to Variety, Richard Gere and Terrence Howard are in talks to star in Spring Break in Bosnia, a film written and directed by Richard Shepard.
The comic drama is based on an Esquire article by Scott Anderson about the half-hearted attempt he and fellow journalists Sebastian Junger and John Falk made at corralling an alleged Bosnian war criminal. The three found themselves in a predicament when they were identified as a CIA hit squad.
The film was originally set up at Warner Independent with not only Richard Gere and Terrance Howard but Topher Grace as well. After Warner Bros decided not to go forward with the film The Weinstein Co swooped in and picked it up. They are hoping for production to begin in Europe this summer.
Busy with Spider-Man 3, it is unknown if Topher Grace will make a return to the project.
Gere just completed playing Clifford Irving in The Hoax for helmer Lasse Hallstrom.
