Warner Bros has just released the full trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water and, slightly different from his last films, the film looks like a perfect fit in the thriller genre; but I thought this was a bedtime story?
Lady in the Water Trailer
Ever since Shyamalan's Sixth Sense the director has been on a downhill slide. Every film he has made has been progressively worse than the one before it and I am truly hoping that Lady in the Water puts an end to this trend.
We posted an early review for the film earlier this year and it wasn't positive. However, there were many elements shown in the latest trailer that the review did not touch upon. So far, Lady in the Water looks to be the most unique of M. Night's medley of films. For instance, what the hell is that beast?
If it turns out to be one of those creatures from The Village somebody is getting smacked.
In Lady in the Water, a story originally conceived by Shyamalan for his children, a modest building manager named Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti) rescues a mysterious young woman (Bryce Dallas Howard) from danger and discovers she is actually a narf, a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the treacherous journey from our world back to hers. Cleveland and his fellow tenants start to realize that they are also characters in this bedtime story. As Cleveland falls deeper and deeper in love with the woman, he works together with the tenants to protect his new fragile friend from the deadly creatures that reside in this fable and are determined to prevent her from returning home.
