Anguish
Universal Pictures has continued to scope out international films when it comes to their horror remakes.
Universal Remakes Anguish
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has picked up Anguish, a pitch by Jake Wade Wall based on the 1987 Spanish horror film, Angustia.
Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing through their Vertigo banner, with Bigas Luna, George Ayoub and Vertigo's Sonny Mallhi exec producing.
Original film, helmed by Luna, was a horror-movie-within-a-horror movie. As an audience in a small theater watches a pic about an optometrist on a killing spree, a maniac begins killing the moviegoers.
Jake Wade Wall is no stranger to remakes or horror and has had a hand in films such as When a Stranger Calls (a remake), The Hitcher and Amusemen.
Vertigo also understands the strength of international horror remakes with The Ring, The Ring Two and The Grudge 2.
