Addicted
The indie studio recently known for its horrors is ready to get dirty in another fashion.
Lionsgate Gets Addicted
According to Variety, Lionsgate has purchased the film rights to the novel Addicted by erotica author Zane.
Zane, who has been looking to get into film with her naughty stories, and Suzanne de Passe intend to produce at least six films a year under their new production venture, de Passe/Zane Entertainment.
Before you ask -- Zane is a one-name pseudonym that the best-selling author likes to write under.
Addicted, which like many of Zane's other eight books takes an unflinching look at female sexuality, revolves around a successful black woman who has a series of affairs, threatening her marriage and motherhood.
Zane has been a best-selling author ever since her first book in 2000. She is also one of only three African-American women to make the New York Times bestseller print list this century.
"I know from communication with my fans that when women liberate themselves sexually, it improves all other aspects of their lives, so getting my first film made is a personal and political triumph for me," Zane said.
Lionsgate follows that up with a big 'ditto' and hopes that Addicted will be the launch of a long and successful partnership.
Stay tuned for updates.
