50 Cent
Universal Pictures has acquired a new starring vehicle for none other than rapper 50 Cent.
50 Cent for Live Bet
Studios love picking up hardcore rappers because they can play the 'hard' or 'tough guy' roles. These roles usually involve breaking the law or, heck, breaking an entering. If a studio really wanted to impress us they should pick up a rapper to the caliber of 50 Cent and make him star in a film to the likes of When Harry Met Sally. I know, it sounds crazy. But if a rapper such as 50 Cent was able to pull of a drama/comedy role such as that, he could then be called an official actor; and it would be hard not to like the guy for it.
However, it looks like Universal is sticking to their guns by acquiring the rights to Live Bet, a heist pic that will be a starring vehicle for Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
According to Variety, Brothers Charley and Vlas Parlapanides penned the script, while Mary Parent and Scott Stuber will produce along with Chris Lighty and Jackson through his G Unit Films shingle.
Curtis Jackson, oh, I am sorry, 50 Cent is also attached to star in Universal's prison boxing pic, The Dance. We last saw Jackson in Get Rich or Die Tryin'.
Parent and Stuber are producing through their U-based company You, Me and Dupree and the upcoming Michael Mann pic The Kingdom.
