Jason Bateman is ready to do his part of this country by joining a team of counterterrorism agents.
Bateman for The Kingdom
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has picked up Jason Bateman (The Break-Up, Dodgeball) to have a starring role in The Kingdom. Directed by Peter Berg, The Kingdom is a terrorism flick expected to begin filming this summer.
The film, which will also star Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner, follows a team of American counterterrorism agents who go to a hostile Middle Eastern country after a bombing attack against Americans there. Jamie Foxx has previous experience with Peter Berg on the set of the film Collateral.
Penned by Matthew Michael Carnahan, The Kingdom is being produced by Michael Mann and Scott Stuber.
Bateman won a Golden Globe for his role in the Fox series Arrested Development and can next be seen in The Break-Up with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. He is also set to star in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium with Natalie Portman and Dustin Hoffman.
Peter Berg is known for films such as The Rundown, Very Bad Things and Friday Night Lights.
