On May 19, you will be introduced to a new horror movie monster in See No Evil. Jacob Goodnight, portrayed by WWE superstar Kane, will terrorize a group of juvenile delinquents with the unfortunate sentence of cleaning up the hotel where he’s hiding out. But who is Jacob Goodnight?
See No Evil with Kane
“Jacob first and foremost is a killing machine in the vein of a Michael Meyers or Jason Voorhees,” Kane said on the phone from his home in Knoxville, TN. “However, I think Jacob is much deeper than those characters. He’s a human being who chooses to be a killing machine and he is a human being. And there are points in the movie where you do see his humanness come out. To me, that makes Jacob even scarier because he knows what he’s doing and he chooses to do it anyway.”
As a pro wrestler, Kane is used to physical performances. “First of all, because of my experience with WWE, I did all my own stunts in the movie. And then also, I used to wear a mask for years when I first came into the WWE and I had to learn to portray emotions and basically perform with body language. This is something that I think I do very well as Jacob Goodnight also. He speaks a little bit but his actions speak much louder than when he does talk.”
Movie stunts were a piece of cake for Kane, since he’s used to running 15 minutes of choreography a night live. “Especially with the physicality that I’m used to in the WWE, [movie stunts] are actually I think much easier to do.” Even when his costars don’t have the same training, Kane set the standard. “They had to adjust to me actually. They’re tougher than they look.”
If you like Jacob Goodnight, Kane hopes you’ll see him again. “All our efforts are being put into making See No Evil a success. Hopefully the door that it’ll open is that we can do more See No Evils and Jacob Goodnight will become a part of pop culture on the level of Michael Meyers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kreuger.”
