Though it would seem that the movie-going community may be growing tired of Nicolas Cage, I admit that I still dig the guy's films. National Treasure turned out to be a surprise box office success -- he was always great in the Rock-style films -- and I even enjoyed Lord of War.
Since Cage has had great success with the action thrillers to the likes of just about every Bruckheimer/Bay film he took part in, it was only a matter of time before he returned to the genre.
Cage for Crazy Dog
According to Variety, Nicolas Cage has teamed up with Yari Film Group to star in the action-thriller Crazy Dog.
Penned by Henry Bean (The Italian Job) and Nick Kazan, the production of the film will be handled by Cage's own Saturn Films.
Crazy Dog tells the story of a New York City cop who causes the death of a friend in a moment of cowardice. Consumed by guilt, he goes on a self-destructive spree but then seeks redemption.
He doesn't happen to cut his face off and replace it with that of the villain does he? Because that would be weird.
Nicolas Cage is currently shooting the psychological thriller Next. You can see him this year in World Trade Center and hear him in The Ant Bully.
Joe Ruben -- known for films The Forgotten and Sleeping with The Enemy -- will direct Crazy Dog.
