Vin Diesel
Over the past couple of years Vin Diesel has picked up enough films to help show his more comedic-slash-sensitive side. Instead of being the Riddick we have all come to know Diesel turned into a nanny in The Pacifier and a charming criminal in Find Me Guilty. Sure, Diesel does know the genre that suits him best with a return to films such as Hitman, but that doesn't mean he can't use a little love every once in a while.
Vin Diesel for Player's Rules
According to Variety, Touchstone Pictures has acquired Player's Rules, a romantic comedy pitch that Ron Bass and Jen Smolka will script as a star vehicle for Diesel.
Vin Diesel will also produce under his One Race Films banner.
Though Vin Diesel has already touched on the family and comedy genres, Player's Rules will be his first romantic comedy. So, in a sense, Vin Diesel will enter this film as a virgin; ooh boy!
Bass went to Diesel's house to pitch him a drama idea. During the meeting, Diesel sparked more to a romantic comedy, a Bass specialty. With Bass' new writing partner Smolka, they hatched "Player's Rules" and sold it in the room to Touchstone. They describe it as a "unique take in the ongoing war between men and women."
Vin Diesel is currently working on up to four new films including Hannibal. In the film he will star as the 3rd century B.C. Carthaginian general who rode an elephant across the Alps with 100,000 troops to attack Rome. Diesel owns the rights to the film and he is currently working on getting it financed.
