Eragon Movie Poster
Only last Friday had I pointed out that Eragon has a large enough fanbase that 20th Century Fox should be taking the film's production seriously. With a trailer due out with Superman Returns, Fox is soon going to prove whether they created a film that could be box office magic or the worst adaptation of 2006. Sure, there are some that are claiming The Da Vinci Code to be the worst adaptation of the year, but look how it did at the box office.
By the end of the report I mentioned that we should expect Eragon to join the ranks of the CanMag Top Ten soon. What I didn't know was how soon.
Eragon a Top Ten
Only a day after the report on the Eragon teaser (Friday), I was alerted by a reader that the film had in fact joined the Top Ten here at CanMag. The movie page for the film has been opened nearly 36,000 times, which was enough to squeeze the film right above Mission: Impossible III.
Adapted off the popular book by the young Paolini, Eragon tells the coming of age tale about a boy who finds a mysterious 'stone' while out hunting. Now, I know there are many of you -- like myself -- who keep the fantasy to Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but Eragon and its sequel, Eldest, are great books to read and I would suggest you read them if you haven't already done so.
So, Eragon does have a fanbase. But will 20th Century Fox have the balls to make Eragon the film it needs to be to succeed as a movie?
I am not saying anything until the trailer. If they give us something that looks like Dungeons & Dragons I swear to God.
Eragon comes to theatres on
December 15th.
