20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for My Super Ex-Girlfriend and it looks pretty dang funny.

Probably one of the first issues Fox had to deal with on Super Ex was the budget. The romance comedy genre usually doesn't come with a hefty price tag, but when you fill the film with superhero special effects the budget can go north at an uncomfortable pace. I don't know exactly how Fox decided on how much was worth spending, but it was enough to create special effects that are good enough for this type of film. Sure, some of the effects look CG, but the worst they can do is make the audience giggle a little more; which isn't a bad thing.
After watching the trailer for My Super Ex-Girlfriend I was surprised that it was Luke Wilson who earned the most laughs. I especially love the scene where his character breaks up with the girl with a secret identity only to have her respond by flying through the ceiling. His response? Luke follows that up by looking out the ceiling and mouthing "oh no!" Hilarious!
What I don't get is the fact that Uma's character uses her superpowers all over the place with Matt (Wilson) and his friends' only response being fear of what she could do to them. Is having a superhero in town a common thing? Aren't they more excited that they discovered an actual superhero? Does the city in which they live even know it has a superhero living in the area?
All questions I am hoping Fox answers with the next trailer.
