Eragon Movie Poster
Though we originally were told we'd have to wait for Superman Returns before we'd be able to see anything from the upcoming adaptation of Eragon, it looks like 20th Century Fox might have sneaked a small intro featurette out a bit early.
Eragon Featurette
The first featurette for Eragon may not feature a dragon, but it still rekindles a bit of confidence in the film. After seeing the first promotional posters (featuring the cast) I had grown nervous about the Dungeons & Dragons vibe I was getting. The featurette for the film works to place Eragon up to the same level of Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia. Speaking of Narnia, I re-watched the film last night on DVD and, though it does have its moments, I am already tired of the kiddie formula that Walden Media thought was best for the film. But hey, the film still made tons of money so what do I know.
20th Century Fox hasn't had an absurdedly huge epic since Star Wars so they are due. But with the non-epic budget they forwarded to Eragon, I am curious to what kind of production value we can expect from the film.
The featurette does make the film look high-budget, and I especially dig how 20th Century Fox is working to convince us that the film will be up to the stature of Rings. If not, they are starting off with one heck of a lie.
Since the Eragon featurette appeared over at YouTube, we have the privilege of showing the clip below.
Eragon comes to theatres on
December 15th.
