No matter how much I am craving for the next epic fantasy, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale does not look like the suitable option. Though the film is trying ridiculously hard to achieve Lord of the Rings status, the trailer(s) for Dungeon make it look more like a copy of a film or even a well-made fan film.
New Trailer for Dungeon Siege
As you watch what looks to be the new trailer for Dungeon Siege you will most likely feel the influence that Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings had in this film. Things such as sets and camera angles look like recycled footage that wasn't used in Rings. Add the fact that the trailer uses music from the Narnia soundtrack and you begin to wonder if Dungeon Siege is encroaching a copyright infringement on the whole fantasy-epic genre.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for this Uwe Boll film to be good. It has a strong cast that includes Jason Statham, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies, Ray Liotta, Matthew Lillard, Burt Reynolds and hottie Kristanna Loken; just to name a few. Even the cast, however, looks like a bunch of thesps who have yet to get their SAG certificate.
Some of the dialogue comes off so bad that the viewer is sure to feel uncomfortable.
But, even with all the negatives, we are still hoping this film turns out to be a great 'B' movie. If not, at least we still have Eragon to look forward to.
