What was Ari Gold's advice during Season 2 of Entourage about when to pick up another film? Always do it before your upcoming film enters theatres.
It looks like Owen Wilson is ready to follow that golden rule -- that was changed in Season 3 no doubt -- by setting up his next starring vehicle before the release of his upcoming comedy You, Me and Dupree.
Owen Wilson for Drillbit Taylor
According to THR, Owen Wilson is set to star in the high-concept comedy Drillbit Taylor for Paramount Pictures.
Based on an original idea by John Hughes, who wrote a 70-page script a couple of years ago, Drillbit Taylor revolves around two high school freshmen who are targeted by the school bully on the first day of the school year. The boys hire what they think is a low-budget soldier of fortune (Owen Wilson) to protect them, but he turns out to be anything but.
Paramount is currently in negotiations with Steven Brill to direct.
The screenplay for the film was written by Kristofor Brown and Seth Rogen with input from Judd Apatow; who will also produce. It is still unknown whether he will make any appearance in the film.
Drillbit is expected to have a budget less than $40 million and is expected to begin shooting in September. Paramount is hoping to have the project canned and ready for release by next summer.
